Celebrating 50 years of heritage, the new House of Kennedy boutique at Chatswood Chase embodies the brand’s evolution into a new era of luxury retail. Designed to house six premium jewellery brands in dedicated concessions, the flagship store serves as a multi-brand retail space.
Challenged with a brief to make a multi-brand store feel cohesive without resembling a department store, the concept was defined by shaping a visual language through detailing. To accommodate the six brands as distinct concessions within the boutique, curved portal niches were introduced throughout the interior and at the window frontage, giving each brand its own identity while maintaining a cohesive whole. This sinuous language extends throughout the store, from the portal entrance that greets clients to the rounded walls and pillars, the sculptural ceiling cove and the island counter. Lighting was integral to the design, carefully calibrated to illuminate and accentuate the jewellery and watches on display while enhancing the atmosphere of the space.
Material selections capture the interests of both owners while weaving in their shared love of Italian interiors. A masculine aesthetic emerges through fluted American walnut cabinetry, sharpened by the contemporary lustre of polished stainless-steel details. This is softened by a feminine sensibility expressed through rounded architectural lines and a material palette of Arabescato-clad portals and travertine tiles, echoed by pale honey stucco-finished walls and ceilings. While a cut-and-loop pile inlaid carpet introduces texture and tactility, completing the material composition.
Reflecting House of Kennedy’s brand identity, subtle green undertones are integrated throughout the interiors, appearing in the soft sage stucco finish in the niches, skirting and architraves wrapped in Verdi Alpi marble, and selected green furniture pieces that punctuate the store. A considered mix of Italian and European furnishings is complemented by Vistosi chandeliers and pendants, alongside Euroluce lighting, creating a warm, atmospheric glow throughout the store.
Conceived as a refined and sensorial brand experience, the new boutique honours House of Kennedy’s heritage through its material language while ushering the brand into a new era of high-end, multi-brand retail.
