After finishing his first-ever residential project in London in July of 2024, Greg Natale’s London House receives a sensational eight-page spread in the esteemed publication Elle Decoration UK. Describing the project as “the ideal family home”, writer Fiona McCarthy sits down with Greg to discuss how he incorporated the differing tastes of the homeowners to achieve a unique blend of traditional touches with clean, modern sensibilities.

Greg Natale channels the essence of the London look for this five-bedroom, six-bathroom townhouse in Chelsea, crafting a bespoke, eclectic design that reflects the city’s maverick charm. Each space incorporates elements of both playful British and refined European design. Contemporary furniture is styled alongside decorative flourishes reminiscent of London’s legendary social club Annabel’s in the rooms across the two upper levels.  The formal lounge is a testament to bespoke luxury, featuring a Gallotti and Radice sofa and a Gubi chair in custom upholstery, and the custom kitchen joinery is finished in Crema Evora marble. A feminine palette of sky blue, lilac, and peached-toned pinks begins to unfurl, enliven by eye-catching glints of gold from the brass finishes. Flat-top portals adorned with wainscoting create a sense of grand separation, reminiscent of a stately mansion but reimagined within the confines of a Chelsea townhouse. Each portal is visual ornamentation, akin to a decorative collar on a blouse, enhancing the home’s intricate design language. In contrast to the more indulgent, highly layered rooms, liminal spaces and entrance hallways are pared back, offering a minimalist reprieve—a palate cleanser between richer spaces.

Aside from the all-pink powder room wrapped in Chinoiserie wallpaper from de Gournay, five of the six bathrooms feature the lively geometrics of Greg’s marble tiles. In total deviation from the airy spaces upstairs, the home theatre, office, and wine cellar on the lower ground floor boasts a deep ruby red evocative of the fine vintage wines in the client’s collection. In London House, every detail, from the bold to the subdued, is thoughtfully designed to delight and inspire.

The popular Blitz bookend design receives an elemental revival in this new release of four unique marble pairings. After launching in 2023 as a set of onyx and clear crystal bookends, Blitz quickly became a fan favourite. Greg Natale partnered with the Italian terrazzo masters Nstone to create CITTÀ, a collection of tiles adaptable to infinite arrangements. The collection is designed in Sydney by Greg Natale and crafted in Venice from Nstone’s sensational range of high-quality terrazzo. Each tile features enduring geometric motifs inspired by the grace, symmetry, and exaggerated proportions of Greco-Roman architecture.

CITTÀ is Greg Natale’s first collection of Italian terrazzo products, furthering his exploration of ancient materials in modern contexts. In working with terrazzo, Greg Natale creates a link between past and present. Operating out of Italy, Nstone converts locally sourced natural stone waste into granules that are mixed with a binding base to form the blocks of terrazzo. Each block is cured in the open air, emitting zero CO2.

The twelve tiles in the CITTÀ Collection are presented in fanciful settings to evoke the intrigue and mystique of ancient lost cities. The individual design of each tile is adaptable to infinite arrangements for the unlimited creation of borders and patterns. The earthy beauty of terrazzo in monochrome palettes of grey and sand tones allows CITTÀ to be paired with Nstone’s existing range.

CITTÀ is the third collaboration Greg has launched this year, following the ALTRO MONDO Collection and the DIMORA Series. We invite you to explore the collection via our website or at Nstone.it.

Last week, Greg Natale sat down with Catherine Giuliano, Director of OneMusic, to chat about the important role music plays in creating atmosphere. As a world-renowned interior designer, Greg Natale knows how to establish ambiance. His passion for blending eclectic design influences throughout his work is underpinned by a use of sensory outputs, such as touch and smell, to craft stunning and unforgettable spaces. As a business owner, Greg knows to take the sensory one step further to ensure that his customers are walking away from the Greg Natale flagship store having had the best possible experience as they browse. This is why Greg is partnered with OneMusic, who supply his business with a music license so that he can play his own curated playlists at high quality.

Greg emphasizes that while visual design elements like texture, colour, and lighting are essential in shaping a store’s atmosphere, sound is often the key to truly immersing customers in the experience. The right music can elevate the environment, creating a memorable connection between the brand and its clientele. However, ensuring that this music is properly licensed is crucial, as it not only avoids legal issues but also allows businesses to use high-quality, tailored playlists that can influence mood, pace, and even purchasing behaviour.

For a retail space, this attention to auditory detail can be the final piece in curating an ambiance that resonates with customers, making each visit more enjoyable and unique. When done right, and with the proper music licensing in place, this sensory layer can contribute to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty, blending seamlessly with Greg’s approach of using multi-sensory design to create stunning, unforgettable spaces.

“It’s about getting the space right. It’s about getting the lighting right. It’s about getting the music right. It’s about creating an immersive experience. Music is that final little thing that really finishes off a space. I know you can’t see it, but you can hear it. It creates feelings.” – Greg Natale

Greg Natale has joined forces with Art Hide to debut ALTRO MONDO, a ground-breaking collection of decorative hide rugs that draws inspiration from the avant-garde spirit of Italy’s legendary discotheques of the 1970s through the 1990s. ALTRO MONDO, meaning “other world” in Italian, comprises eight original designs by Greg for Art Hide that find inspiration in the avant-garde architecture and radical design ethos of famed Italian discotheques from the 70s-90s. Classically stylish with an unconventional twist, ALTRO MONDO is a spectacular showcase of Greg’s unique design vision and Art Hide’s advanced techniques. Inspired and unexpected, this collection of decorative hide rugs surpasses the typical expectations of hide.

As I was familiarizing myself with all of Art Hide’s different techniques and treatments, there was a lot of playful experimentation, which really shaped the collection as it started to unfold.” – Greg Natale

From the early ’70s to the ’90s, Italy’s dancehalls and discos were more than just entertainment venues—they were impressive emblems of boundary-pushing architecture and design. ALTRO MONDO is an invitation to experience the same spirit of playful innovation, brought to life through Art Hide’s advanced technological processes, including their exclusive Fusion and laser-cutting techniques. Each rug comes in four different sizes and can be customised.

Greg Natale’s second residential project in Mosman, New South Wales, makes its print debut in Issue 15 of The Local Project. Looking to transform their typically modern, all-white family home, the owners approached Greg Natale to manifest a space full of meaningful colour and tonal depth. Upon first glance, the exterior may suggest otherwise; a hulking, monolithic concrete mass that is a stark, brutalist contrast to the surrounding greenery. Despite its heavy exterior, the inside of Mosman II is light and airy. In the entrance foyer, floating stairs and large skylights bestow an ethereal openness to the home. Oriented to overlook Sydney’s sparkling blue waters, several of Mosman II’s three levels cater to integrated indoor-outdoor living: large windows, a balcony, and a patio complete with an infinity pool. In homage to the coastal location, a palette of sky blues and forest greens bloom in various rooms, most noticeably in the kitchen where a custom island finished in a vibrant green quartzite brings flashes of colour to enliven the black, grey and white foundation. For a feminine touch to balance the hard-edge architecture, lilac and blush accessories complete each room. These curated layers of colour and texture balance two distinct styles, resulting in a cutting-edge home that is warm and welcoming̣.

Vogue Living magazine has featured Greg Natale’s 2024 residential project Bellevue Hill House as a beautiful six-page spread in their most recent issue. As this two-storey home in Sydney’s Bellevue Hill transitioned from one owner to the next, Greg Natale was given the rare opportunity to overhaul his previous Hollywood Regency-era interior he created twelve years ago and start again from scratch. As seen in the latest issue of Vogue Living all about the men behind Italian design, Greg’s latest work is soft, textural, and curved in all the right places. Clay washed curved additions reminiscent of Cycladic architecture give the home a stripped back cleanliness in the style of what Greg is calling European Minimalism. For Greg, the rare opportunity to reverse his previous design and start over from scratch was a ritualistic practice symbolic of his evolution as a designer.

Farage Headquarters by Greg Natale in collaboration with Woods Bagot makes the shortlist for the INDE Awards category The Retail Space. Split between two levels of retail and one main office, the headquarters for the luxury fashion label Farage is located in the heart of Darlinghurst, in a heritage building that was once the home to Watters Gallery for over 60 years. Inspired by the rich history of the building, this new interior reflects a hard-edge approach to modern design. With minimalist white walls and concrete joinery, a gallery-like display of the Farage collections is interspersed with artwork by leading artists. The brutalist concrete staircase retained from the original building becomes a sculptural centrepiece at the concept store’s entrance.

Retail zones on the ground and first floors, and each lofty level provides a spacious, well-lit environment for shoppers. The next level up includes offices, meeting areas and a convivial rooftop terrace where a leafy planting scheme by Studio Botanica frames the inner-city outlook. Here, modernity continues, providing a clean and inspirational environment for the Farage team. The design cleverly balances the need for open, collaborative spaces with private areas, emphasising functionality and comfort. Throughout the building, concrete’s raw, utilitarian quality is complemented by crisp white walls, black-patinaed metal, smoky grey marble and gallery-style track lights. The final design is finished with an eclectic selection of modern pieces, styled Sydney based stylist Maria Papantoniou. We invite you to shop a Farage-inspired edit here.

The INDE Awards announced their shortlist last week, and we are honoured to have such fine work included amongst some incredible projects. For more information on the INDE Awards, head to their website.

Widely celebrated patrons of Australia / Asia Pacific residential architecture & interior design Habitus Living selected Greg Natale’s Macmasters Beach House to be included in the sixtieth issue of their print publication, guest edited by industry talent and friend of Greg’s Sarah-Jane Pyke of Arnet&Pyke. When Greg, a child of the 80s and true appreciator of the Memphis movement, inherited the brief for a villa-style home built in 1985, the designer experienced a true full-circle moment in his career. Crediting 80s-era architecture for peaking his interest in interior design when he was no older than ten, the opportunity to reinvent the interior of this extraordinary residence so emblematic of postmodern design felt like it was meant to be.

Published in a kitchen and bathroom Habitus special, this piece explores how Greg worked with the original architecture to completely rethink the kitchen, creating a lofty space perfect for family-style dining. Be sure to get your copy of the stunning special to read more about how the designer brought this sensational home back to life, reinventing the postmodern aesthetic in the contemporary present. A textural symphony of classic and contemporary design elements, Greg Natale’s Oatley House makes a stylish eleven-page debut in the June/July issue of Belle Magazine. Clean and modern, each light-filled space in this two storey family residence features floor-to-ceiling fluting and marble finishes for a visually unique finish that exudes innovative elegance. “The idea was all about creating texture so the house didn’t feel too plain, especially with all the neutral tones” Greg tells Belle writer Judy Pascoe when asked about the interior’s deco-esque elements, such as the stepped ceilings and fluted joinery. Despite the subtle deco details in the interior architecture, the selection of sculptural modern furniture anchors the overall design in the contemporary present.

Natale displays an impressive attention to detail in each curated layer. Various rooms boasting vibrant colours break up the overall palette of black and neutral grey tones for exciting moments of maximalist design. See more photos of the Oatley residence here.
