2026 marks the 48th year of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, a celebration of queer culture and visibility that began in 1978. As a queer-owned business, Greg Natale celebrates Mardi Gras with pride, though the championing of radical self-expression extends year-round!

The music, fashion and aesthetics that defined the late 1970s and early 1980s have long informed Greg’s design language. Perhaps most poignantly, the electric atmosphere of Studio 54 continues to shape our studio today. Our curated collection of coffee table books honours icons such as Andy Warhol and other trailblazers of late twentieth-century queer culture. The Blitz Bookends reference the legendary Blitz Kids, London’s gender-bending movement that launched global style revolutions. Finally, the Debbie Vase and Debbie Bowl nod to the broader cultural movement that produced icons like Debbie Harry.

Historical references woven throughout our décor range ground each piece in the legacy of queer cultural movements, translating pivotal moments into considered contemporary form. The 1978 Vase takes its name from the inaugural year of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, anchoring the collection to a defining cultural milestone. The Macleay Cushion pays tribute to Macleay Street in Potts Point, where “The Strip on the Strip” history plaques commemorate the venues that shaped Sydney’s queer nightlife in the 1970s.
